The Skaven Army

Over 6 editions of Warhammer Fantasy, since their introduction in 1986, the society and armies of the Skaven have been fleshed out in a variety of sources but no single armybook or roster has provided a comprehensive look at the amassed forces. 6th Edition made the only attempt to make each of the Greater Clans individually playable forces, whereas various supplements and issues of White Dwarf have provided themed army lists over the years.

The following is my attempt to combine, condense, and streamline these myriad sources into a single overview of the length and breadth of the Skaven troops across the Clans. I've taken some liberties according to my own tastes, but overall attempted to keep true to all previously published information and avoid contradictions. The most notable omission fans will likely notice is The Storm Fiends, simply as I do not care for the look or concept, in my opinion belonging more to the aesthetic of 40K than the Old World, and I believe their niche is already filled by the augmented and Mutant Rat Ogres.

This list is not fleshed out with any rules, and while I entertain thoughts of one day expanding it into a playable fan army book, for now it is more of a wish list. This is what I would have wanted from 9th Age or similar adaptations. I've divided the lists between the Warlord Clans and the Greater Clans, each playable on their own, with the idea that the Warlord Clans would be able to "rent" specialized units from the Greater Clans for a greater cost.

WARLORD CLANS

VERMIN LORDS
The Daemonic servants of the Great Horned Rat, Vermin Lords are sometimes summoned by The Grey Seers to accompany armies into battle.

GREY SEER
The leaders of Skaven society, direct representatives of the Council of Thirteen and High Priests of The Great Horned Rat.

Masters of the numerous Clans, Warlords assemble and lead Skaven troops into battle.

Below each Warlord are any number of Clan Chieftains waiting to take his place.
