In 2010, Micro Arts Studio, a company that makes a variety of scenery, bases, and customization options for numerous miniature wargames, released a series of "Nezumi" ratmen heads for customizing Skaven and other Wererat models. Besides some plain rat heads, and some gasmask heads, there were two significantly Japanese-themed sets, the Ashigura Nezumi heads...
...and the Samurai Nezumi heads...
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, Micro Arts discontinued these wonderful sets a short time later. I recall discovering their existence in 2015 and going on a desperate hunt to accumulate what I could from ebay and online retailers that still had some stock. I was able to get around ten packs of each, and though I've had ebay notifications set up since that time, I've yet to be able to grab any more.
However, before their disappearance a longstanding commision painting service, Hortwerth's Custom Miniatures, undertook the following themed army for a client.
I cannot imagine the cost for such an endeavour, but the meticulous execution of the theme is astounding, from the flowers on the robes of the command figures to the adaptation of the rat Ogres, not to mention the crafted shrines. This is the Nippon Skaven army par excellance.
